Where to eat in Gijón? This is probably one of the most common questions and doubts we get asked when travelling to this city, especially if we take into account that it is located in one of the best eating areas in Spain.
With an exquisite gastronomy, in which dishes such as "chopa a la sidra" stand out, which is a rock fish that is stewed in cider and accompanied by potatoes and onion; "caldereta gijonesa de pescados y mariscos", which is one of the most popular dishes, in which a great variety of seafood and rock fish are served in the same dish; the bollo preñado, which is a kind of sandwich prepared with chorizo in cider; as well as the well-known and traditional cachopo, fabada or tortos, which together with many others, make up the exquisite and tasty Asturian gastronomy, this is another of the great reasons to visit this interesting city.

Known for being one of the best restaurants in Gijón, lunch or dinner at Farragua Restaurant, we assure you that it is a sure hit.
With a menu where quality products, cuisine with love, mixing tradition and avant-garde and an unbeatable service, we are sure that whatever your choice from the menu, you will not be disappointed.
Although they have an extensive menu, we recommend you opt for the 35 euro menu which is a true sample of the cuisine of this restaurant.

2. Sidrería Casa Carmen, one of the best restaurants to eat in Gijón

Located at the end of San Lorenzo Beach, this restaurant in Gijón is a symbol, as it is considered one of the best places to eat cachopo in Gijón.
Although they have more dishes on the menu, we recommend you not to miss the cachopo, the squid in cider and the scorpion fish pie, all excellent and unbeatable dishes.
Bear in mind that as one of the best-known and recommended restaurants in Gijón, it is usually full, so it is important to book if you don't want to be left without a table.
The price of the cachopo for two, which can perfectly fit four if you order a starter, is 21,50 euros.

If you like meat, the Sidrería Parrilla La Costa is undoubtedly the restaurant where to eat in Gijón you should choose.
With tradition, good product, cuisine with care and unbeatable service, this restaurant, specialised in meat, will be a great choice, as it is also one of the most recommended by both locals and travellers.
As we have already mentioned, although its menu has other dishes, we recommend you opt for one of its meats, always advised by the staff, who, depending on your tastes, will be happy to recommend which dishes to choose.
The price of the meats ranges from 15 to 55 euros, depending on the type of meat you choose, starters between 6 and 15 euros and desserts between 4 and 8 euros.

4. V. Crespo

Included in the Michelin Guide, this restaurant in Gijón is another of the most recommended and we assure you, a sure hit.
With a restaurant and a menu that has been looked after down to the smallest detail, in all the dishes you will find quality products, with a meticulous cooking and excellent service from the staff, which make the whole experience unbeatable.
Although any of their dishes are exceptional, we recommend you not to miss the rice with bugre, the octopus, the foie ravioli and the Pitu meatballs.
In addition to the à la carte menu, they also have a very complete tasting menu for 50 euros, which is perfect if you want to try some of the best dishes of the house.

Known for being another of the best restaurants in Gijón, the As de Picas is also an icon of tradition, good produce and good cuisine.
Located in the city's Casino, in addition to the menu, in which traditional dishes stand out, they have the fabada menu, which we recommend you not to miss if you want to enjoy this dish.
The price is 25 euros and includes a starter, salad and fabada as well as bread, drink, a glass of cider, dessert and coffee; a price that also makes it one of the cheapest restaurants in Gijón if we take into account the quality-price ratio.

8. El Tomate Bistró

If you are looking for something different for lunch or dinner, where quality, good cuisine, avant-garde and care are paramount, El Tomate Bistró is sure to be a sure hit.
Although the entire menu deserves special mention, we recommend you not to miss the rice with pitu, the marinated sardine, the "Iberian" scallop and the spider crab cannelloni.
The average price of the starters is around 15 euros and the main courses are between 17 and 20 euros. We recommend ordering several and sharing so you can try more options.

9. Sidrería El Restallu, another of the most recommended restaurants in Gijón

Perfect for lunch or dinner, this is another of the most recommended restaurants in Gijón, especially if you are looking for a place to enjoy Asturian gastronomy.
Although they have a menu with many typical dishes, we recommend you to opt for the menu of rice with bugre, for 29,50 euros during the day and 30,50 euros at night, which is spectacular.

10. Tierra Astur Poniente

We cannot finish this list of recommended restaurants in Gijón without mentioning Tierra Astur, an institution in the city and in Asturias, which is undoubtedly chosen by many locals and travellers for lunch or dinner.
In our case we were very hesitant to go, as on the one hand it had been highly recommended to us, but on the other hand, they advised us against it, telling us that it is a place where quantity and low prices are more important than quality.
After our experience we have to say that we think it is more the latter, and although it is a good option if you want to try a traditional dish in a curious place, we think that there are much better restaurants in Gijón that offer better quality for the same price.
